The Thirty

The name, the game, the country and the mission. This is the long version.

The name

Why The Thirty

In the accounts of 2 Samuel 23 and 1 Chronicles 11, a king's army is remembered through a short list of names: the man who held a field alone when the rest of the line had gone, the three who broke through an enemy camp for a cup of water, the ones who stood when everyone else retreated. They were known individually for what they could do, and collectively for what they were willing to do for each other. Tradition remembers them as the Thirty.

We borrowed the name for what it describes, not for ceremony. A small group, selected on merit. Loyal to the person beside them. Measured by what they did when the odds were wrong. Those are the qualities that decide competition, and they are the standard we hold the whole organization to, not just the players.

Not remembered for their number. Remembered for what they did.

The game

Why esports

Elite competitors in this region have rarely had what elite competitors elsewhere take for granted: structured practice, coaching, management that handles the business so the player can handle the game, and a path to international competition that does not depend on luck.

The Thirty exists to supply that structure. Development that is deliberate. Management that is professional. Opportunity that is earned and then protected. We start with Call of Duty: Mobile because that is where the talent already competes, and because the habits an organization learns running one team properly are the habits it needs for every team after it.

The country

Why Nigeria

Nigeria is home. It has one of the largest and youngest gaming populations anywhere, a competitive scene that is still being built, and a culture that does not need to be taught what it means to compete against the odds.

That combination is the point. The scene is young enough that it can be built properly, and the talent is deep enough that building it properly will matter. Nigeria is not a limitation we are working around. It is the starting position we chose.

The mission

Build world-class competitors.Build culture around them.Build a platform that lasts beyond one game.

Competition is the front door, but it is not the whole house. Around the team we are building the development pathway, the media, and the culture that turns a roster into something people belong to.
